North Cricket Ground
North is situated on Ormeau Road, to the south of Belfast City Centre, in an area of high social housing need. It was zoned as amenity land but planning guidance allows such land to be developed with the agreement of the local community.
Clanmil, one of Northern Ireland's largest housing associations, agreed to buy the land from the owner subject to planning consent being granted. However, the agreement was proved difficult to convert into a binding contract due to a range of contentious issues.
Nick was brought in and, working closely with the development team at Clanmil and its other consultants, he helped to resolve the outstanding issues. The structure of the deal was simplified and, with the local community on board, planning consent was achieved and the purchase proceeded.
The site is now developed and Nick continues to advise Clanmil and private sector developers on site acquisitions throughout Northern Ireland and GB.
